Dr. Kenneth Manypenny, Pastor

Dr. Kenneth Manypenny, Pastor

Pastor Ken Manypenny

At 16 years old, Ken Manypenny was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do Marital arts- training for the Olympics- But God had another plan. He was convicted of his sinful condition in January of 1976 after hearing a message at a Saturday night Youth Rally. He attended a church service the following morning and was gloriously born again!

God called him to preach a few months after he accepted Christ. His Pastor, Dr. Lawrence Oney, mentored him and allowed him many opportunities to be of use in the home church ministry at Alliance Baptist Temple. He Graduated High School in 1977, and married Sharon Wehner (Shari) in July of the same year. Shari was born again at the age of 15, after watching the movie, “The Thief in the Night”. Shortly thereafter, she dedicated her life to serve the Lord in whatever capacity He would place her.

Both Pastor Ken and Mrs. Shari attended Massillon Baptist College, and Graduated in 1981.

After graduating, they continued to minister in their home church, Alliance Baptist Temple, until 1983. Their daughter Rebekah was born while serving in that ministry.  From there, they served in other ministries:  Troy Baptist Church (Garrettsville, OH) in 1983-84 as associate pastor and King James Baptist Church (Newton Falls, OH) 1984-1987. Their second daughter, Rachel, was born during the time they were working at King James Baptist Church.

Then, God called him to be the pastor of Mayfield Bible Baptist Church in Beaver Falls, PA in April of 1987. The church, which had begun in a small Community Center and later moved their congregation to a building they had purchased for worship, had been without a pastor for almost 2 years and was ready to close when he and his family arrived. With the Lord’s help, the struggling congregation grew and blossomed in just two short years. Though the numbers in attendance have had times of “ups and downs”, they have continued to “press toward the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ…” together, under Pastor Manypenny’s leadership.

Since those first years of following the Lord’s guidance in his life, the Lord has allowed Pastor Manypenny to see several men and women also follow God’s calling to the pastorate, to evangelism, and mission work because of the faithful, careful, biblical guidance he has given them and lived before them.

Pastor and Shari Manypenny’s two daughters have grown and married and are blessed with families of their own to carry on the inheritance God has entrusted to them. Rebekah (Becky) serves the Lord alongside her husband, Daniel Leonard, in the ministries of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, PA., where he serves as assistant Pastor and Youth Pastor. Rachel and her family attend Bible Baptist Temple in Campbell Ohio, under the faithful leadership of Pastor Matt Fergueson.

On May 19, 2016 Pastor Manypenny received his Doctorate of Divinity from Faith Baptist School of Theology as a recognition of his forty years of faithful ministry.

In the August of 2017, the Lord saw fit for Mrs. Shari to go home to Heaven.  Her presence has been greatly missed at Mayfield Bible Baptist Church. Mrs. Shari had been very influential in the lives of countless souls as she served beside her husband and Pastor for over 30 years of ministry in Beaver Falls! As the songwriter has said, “…Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come. Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home…” Pastor Manypenny has faithfully remained in the ministry to which God called him. He has been a great under-shepherd for a sweet group of God's sheep, and he shows no interest in leaving what God has called him to do.  He continues to preach the Bible, the Blood and the Blessed hope of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He has faithfully, unapologetically, and unconditionally remained true to the doctrines and standards found in God’s Word. He continues to preach and live with the same conviction he has had for over 40 years.  He continues to have a great burden for lost souls and endeavors to instill that burden in the hearts of his congregation.  His love of the Lord and his pastor’s heart are still evident in his preaching and in the many facets of the church’s ministry outreaches, including nursing home, bus/van and missions programs.
